You do not need to connect a SPDIF cable if you are using:

- Any EVGA GeForce GTX 600 Series model
- Any EVGA GeForce GTX 500 Series model
- Any EVGA GeForce GTX 400 Series model
- EVGA GeForce GT 240
- EVGA GeForce 220
- EVGA GeForce 210
- EVGA GeForce 8400 GS (with HDMI)
These models have a direct HDMI port with built-in HD Audio processing.
If you are using a:
- Any EVGA GeForce 9000 Series Card
- EVGA GeForce GTS 250
- EVGA GeForce GTX 260
- EVGA GeForce GTX 275
- EVGA GeForce GTX 280
- EVGA GeForce GTX 285
- EVGA GeForce GTX 295
You will need to connect a SPDIF passthrough cable from your graphics card to a compatible motherboard to get audio output.
