0Introducing The e-GeForce4 MX

The e-GeForce4 MX is based on nVIDIA's new GeForce4 MX GPU which is the newest generation follow-on the their highly successful GeForce2 MX line of chipsets. The GeForce4 MX GPU is a cost-effective, high-performance integrated GPU, and is the only mainstream GPU to integrate the most comprehensive set of feature on a single chip.

As with previous versions of the MX line, the e-GeForce4 MX will come in a variety of configurations that will allow it to be useful in the widest possible number of system applications. Initially versions of the e-GeForce4 MX 440 and e-GeForce4 MX 420 will be available, followed on with other configurations in the coming months.

The e-GeForce4 MX line lists an impressive feature set:

NVIDIA Lightspeed Memory Architecture II

Constant challenges with 3D intensive applications is the limitations in memory bandwidth. The second generation of the Lightspeed Memory Architecture of its GeForce3 predecessor improves upon many of the revolutionary data retrieval techniques through the memory pipeline. The result is the transfer of data for vertices and pixels at blistering speeds.

  • MX Crossbar Memory Controller
  • Quad Cache
  • Lossless Z Compression
  • Optimized Z-Occlusion Culling
  • Memory Auto Pre-Charge
  • Fast Z-Clear

NVIDIA Accuview Antialiasing

In the past, it was difficult to implement a technique to smooth out the edges of an image without significantly hitting the system with a degrade in performance. Accuview antialiasing allows for applying a smoother transition between the edges of a pixel at different sampling levels without affecting a severe slow down in the frame rate.

  • Full Screen Antialiasing (FSAA) of 2X, 4X, Quincunx, and new 4XS mode.
  • Removal of "jaggies" to improve image quality and realism
  • Quincunx at FSAA 2X speeds
  • Run quality FSAA without performance degrades

NVIDIA Video Processing Engine (VPE)

To round out the complete entertainment package that is the GeForce4 MX is the integrated hardware decoding that improves upon the efficiency and system overhead of DVD decoding in conjunction with a software renderer. With the advent of high definition displays becoming more popular, the GeForce4 MX has built in compatibility to display at 1080i modes.

  • Hardware Assisted DVD (MPEG2) Decoding
  • Simple display scaling and filtering
  • Hardware color enhancements to improve playback quality
  • Improved PVR efficiency and support
  • HDTV setup compatible
