How Does It Work?
By using the power and the flexibility of the PCI-Express bus, NVIDIA has developed a means of dynamically accessing the computer's system memory in order to allocate it for use as frame buffer memory for the graphics card. This is not the same as other memory sharing techniques such as the shared memory that integrated graphics rely on, or even AGP texture memory. NVIDIA's TurboCache technology allows the graphics card to dynamically allocate as much or as little memory as is needed for any given video operation; and because each card is equipped with real memory local to the video card, many day to day operations such as web browsing, emails, watching movies or viewing photos, etc. can be performed without the need of any system memory at all. But when the task turns to gaming or heavy 3D environments, the 6200 TurboCache can access the system memory it needs at speeds as fast as 13.6 GB/sec - faster than the local memory found on many entry level cards.
