America's Army: Operation

America's Army: Operation is a realistic First Person Shooter developed by the United State's Army. Everything from weapons training in boot camp all the way to mission critical assignments is included in the game.

Operations gives gamers a chance to role-play the U.S. Army experience by signing up as a recruit to handle basic training, then taking on their first tour of duty. From there on, players choose the attributes, career path, and goals for their character and apply six different resources to reach each goal (health, strength, knowledge, skills, finances, and popularity).

In Operations, everything from the direction and velocity of bullet shell ejection, to the way soldiers high crawl when carrying a rifle, is based on the way the Army really operates. Even as a sniper, your body move and breathing are critical factors for hitting your target from long distance.

Multiplayer missions support up to 32 players involved in assignment tours, but before gamers can play online, they'll have to complete the appropriate training in boot camp. Teamwork is emphasized, especially through communication - via speech, radio messages, or actual military hand and arm signals. Gamers will also be subject to the Rules of Engagement for online combat. Any major violations - such as injuring or killing a teammate - could result in being sent to virtual prison. And just as in the Army's real force-on-force training practices, players always perceive that they are fighting as members of the Army - the opposing force appears to be in enemy uniforms with appropriate weapons.

America's Army uses the next-generation Unreal engine and is optimized for the NVIDIA GeForce2 GPU's and above to achieve amazing levels of graphical details and qualities. Throughout the game's development process, NVIDIA's special ops team worked with the U.S. Army to initiate and enable special 3D effects and imagery made possible only on NVIDIA GPUs. The result is a 3D virtual soldier experience that's the next best thing to enlisting.
